Zaidi Ismail, a self–taught art–maker with skills build up from years of trials and hand–on experiences, was born 48 years ago in the State of Kedah, the Rice Bowl of Malaysia. Though his artistic talent was discovered in his primary school years, Zaidi Ismail started to engage seriously in the art field in 2004. Years prior, he was busy managing his businesses.
During his initial years in the world of visual arts, Zaidi Ismail experimented with watercolour. Later on, he took a bold move towards acrylic and oil paint. As a result, he is drawing more attention and fans clamour to own his art pieces.
Today Zaidi Ismail favours acrylic media, producing visuals that are vivid and eye–popping, receiving overwhelmingly positive responses from patrons and collectors of Malaysian art. Zaidi Ismail’s paintings begin to grace the collections by the Kedah State Governments, government
officials, department heads from government, private agencies and private homes.
Before joining Angkatan Pelukis Kedah, APK (Kedah Arts Association) in 2016, Zaidi Ismail personally marketed and sold his paintings. Now, you can find Zaidi Ismail works on display in every exhibition and event organised by APK.
In 2018, in conjunction with the installation ceremony of the 29th Sultan of Kedah, Zaidi Ismail was honoured with the once–in–a–life time commission; to beautify Melur Palace walls and columns, Anak Bukit, the official royal palace and residence, with a series of mural.
As a realist 3D artist, Zaidi Ismail loves depicting traditional culture and heritage. He reiterates that life is a blend of life and culture, and it is his cause to immortalised the folk culture scenes in all the visual artworks he produces.
